The Formula Ford national series is Australia's premier entry-level openwheeler championship. It's also one of the oldest, 2016 being the series' 4th uninterrupted running.
From the second series until 1992, the overall winner received an air ticket to England, Formula Ford's birthplace and a stepping-stone to a plethora of European junior openwheeler racing series.
Many Formula Ford national champions have gone on to achieve success in professional motorsport. They include current V8 Supercars stars Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes, Garth Tander, Chaz Mostert, Will Davision, David Reynolds, Jason Bright, Nick Percat and Tim Blanchard.
At various times the national series has been title-sponsored by Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA), Ford Australia and Ford's Motorcraft spare parts division. Organisations interested in supporting Australia's future motor racing stars are welcome to contact the Formula Ford Association.
