Former Bathurst champion, Australian racing legend and long time Formula Ford competitor, Brian Sampson has reached a major milestone in his racing career.
Brian's racing number has always been number 78 and his aim was to be racing when he reached the same age as his race number.
Well Brian achieved his goal last weekend when he competed in the Victroian State Racing event at Sandown.
Brian turned 78 in June and this was his first opportunity to get back on track.
To celebrate this major milestone a gathering of competitors was adjourned with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday sung for Brian and the compulsory eating of cupcakes.
Will this be the end of racing for Brian? He has left the door open to continue to compete as long as he is capable to do so. His performance on the weekend suggests that he is still earning his place on the grid.
We congratulate Brian on reaching his goal and thank him for the outstanding support he has given Formula Ford and motorsport in general over many years.
Brian. You are a legend!!!
