AUSTRALIAN FORMULA FORD 1600 NATIONALS
One weekend National title
Open to all Formula Ford 1600 and Historic Group F cars
Kent-only grid for the entire event
2025 Event Launched - Mallala (SA) 20-22 November
Launched in 2022 by the Formula Ford Association, the Australian Formula Ford 1600 Nationals is the single-event National Title for Kent-powered cars. Open to all Formula Ford 1600 cars, including Historic Group F in their native specification (Avon tyres). The marquee annual event rotates through host states and attracts entries from around the country. Previously a Series, the transition to a single-weekend Nationals better aligns with the state-level competitor base.
Inspired by the UK's Formula Ford Festival, the format is simplified as we don't yet get 100+ entries! Qualifying sets the grid for the first of three progressive Heat Races. Points are awarded in the Heats to set the starting grid for a winner-takes-all Feature Race that decides the title. As the event entries increase, the format can expand similar to the UK's Festival.

While contemporary and modern cars usually dominate the head of the field, the Nationals welcomes any and all Kent-engined chassis to race and those who enter with older machinery often spring a surprise, and can still battle for their own glory courtesy of the Historic & Analogue Cup classes.

While easy to focus on the outright battles, it brings together competitors from all walks of life. State Champions can settle the question of who is truly the Nations' best. Experienced masters can show the young guns it's not all about Lap 1. Part timers can schedule it as their end of year target. Those keen for travel get a new destination every year. It simply is the event you don't want to miss!
