FFA appoints new Engine supplier

Formula Ford Association has appointed Cragsted as its new control engine builder from 2023 and beyond. The Brisbane based company will take on the responsibility of rebuilding the Formula Ford 1.6l Ford Duratec engine for competitors and replaces CHI in the role.

Administrator of Formula Ford Association Phil Marrinon has praised CHI for the work they have done for the category. “I would really like to thank Neville, Scott and the team at CHI for all the work they have undertaken since 2009, they have played a major role in the success and ongoing longevity of the Category. The service and fantastic support provided by CHI over the past 13 years has been second to none and we wish them every success in the new direction they have chosen.”

Meanwhile Mr Marrinon has also congratulated Cragsted on being awarded the category’s preferred engine builder. “Cragsted comes to Formula Ford with an amazing background in Motorsport having recently celebrated being in business for the past 30 years and as the sole engine supplier to both the Aussie Racing Car (since 2012) and Toyota 86 (since 2019) categories. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank our major stakeholders involved in the selection process and commend them on their decision.”

Cragsted founder Craig Hasted is excited about his company’s role in the future of Formula Ford. “Formula Ford has always been a great stepping stone for young Australian motor racers and I am so proud that Cragsted will now get the opportunity to be officially part of this process. The relationship with the Formula Ford Association fits our business model and we have a proven history of providing parity across a category and ensuring the same performance is available to all drivers. Having seen a lot of great drivers come through the system via our involvement in Supercars we look forward to giving so many more the same opportunities.

The 2023 Formula Ford season begins on March 18-19 at Morgan Park in Queensland’s south west and includes a trip to Symmons Plains to support the Tasmanian Supercar SuperSprint weekend, culminating its seventh and final round at The Bend, SA in October.
