Santalucia with a double win day

Sonic driver Jake Santalucia has doubled down on a day of wins, taking victory in the first two races at Plains in Tasmania.

Race 1 started with the temperature sitting at 1.4 degrees, and Xavier Kokai on pole. Eddie Beswick jumped Kokai at the start But nearly lost the lead by turn 3 after a major lockup into the hairpin. Kokai had his own issues later in the lap locking up and spinning off on turn 6 dropping him back to 16th in the order.

Cody Maynes-Rutty worked his way up to second on the final lap after starting 6th. Zak Lobko made a great improvement during the race starting in 12th and finishing in 3rd place.

The last 6 laps of the race saw a great battle up front between Santalucia, Eddie Beswick and Matt Hillyer. The lead changing often until lap 13 when Beswick and Hillyer came together.

Race two saw much of the same with Santalucia leading from the front until Daniel Frougas and Eddie Beswick came together at turn 4 causing a safety car period, Matt Hillyer doing a great job avoiding Frougas who was sliding across the track.

The race was restarted with a one lap dash and Santalucia came under fire from the hard finishing Cody Maynes-Rutty and Xavier Kokai. Zak Lobko finished fourth and narrowed the gap between himself and Matt Hillyer to one point in the championship with the final race of the weekend to be held on Sunday at 10.45 live on Foxsports and Kayo.
